Tania Hopmans, GM of Maungaharuru-Tangitu Trust, describes how Catapult Leadership made an immediate impact to the performance of her team and organisation.
Angus Evison, a Senior Manager at Creative New Zealand, describes why he became an advocate for the programme and why Creative New Zealand has chosen to send many others on the programme.

Ged Taylor, Managing Director of SME company Bravo, talks about how Catapult Leadership has made a lasting difference to his business and how he leads his staff.
Kolya Eccleston, HR Manager for OMV explains why OMV regularly sends people on Catapult Leadership.
Catapult Leadership begins on Tuesday evening. This allows participants to get to the venue the night before and to meet other participants over dinner and drinks. The introductory session to the programme is completed on Tuesday night so the programme can have an accelerated start on Wednesday morning.
Wednesday’s focus is on leading self: developing leadership self awareness and honing social and emotional intelligence. Day two focuses on what leaders need to have in place to lead strategically. Day three focuses on equipping participants with skills for bringing out the best in others.
This introductory session gets the programme underway and allows you to meet other participants over dinner and drinks.
We explore how leadership differs from management, dispel many myths around leadership, and look at what attributes people do look for in leaders.
There is no one best type of leader. What’s important is leading in a way that is real and authentic for you. This requires self awareness, self belief and clarity about what you believe in and stand for. In this session you will clarify your personal values and create an inspiring leadership vision for yourself. We reveal the hidden nature of self imposed limitations on leadership potential.
Leaders are flexible and adaptable, able to employ different leadership styles for different situations. Using the DISC behavioural styles framework, we will explore the impact of different leadership styles. You will receive your own comprehensive DISC report which will reveal your primary leadership style including strengths and areas to work on.
Clarity of purpose and values are important touchstones for making decisions. Effective leaders have a deep understanding of their organisation’s purpose and role model values. We show you how to develop purpose and values and leave you equipped to undertake this work with your team or organisation.
Leaders are forward looking – scanning the horizon, setting direction and guiding the thinking about how to reach a new future. We explore how to create a vision and bold goals.
Being an effective influencer is a vital leadership skill. You will learn about the psychology of influence and apply influencing strategies and tactics to a real-world challenge.
Leaders build high-performance teams. In this session you will discover the key elements that make a high- performing team and, using a diagnostic tool, you will assess how your team is currently performing against each element. You will gain practical tools and strategies for enhancing your team’s performance.
Leaders bring out the best in those around them. Being able to coach people to higher levels of performance is key. We reveal the key skills to successful coaching and provide you with a powerful coaching model. You will practise putting the skills into action.
Delegation clears space for you to lead. Done well, delegation grows and motivates others. You will learn and apply a seven step framework for delegating.
Leaders need to be able to motivate people to channel their energy and efforts where they are most needed. In this session we explore the nature of motivation and five key strategies for motivating others.
In this session you will create a plan for applying learning back at work and for your ongoing leadership development.
To embed learning after the programme we provide the following:
Included in the standard price of the programme is a follow-up one hour coaching session with a Catapult coach. You can use this session to review any part of the programme or to discuss any other work or leadership related issue.
You will receive a series of Catapult Refresh emails in the three months following the programme. Each email refreshes a core part of the programme content.
We have two great options to extend Catapult Leadership.
Investing in additional coaching after the programme is a smart option. Additional coaching can help you explore specific aspects of the programme more deeply, help you transfer programme learning back to the workplace and provide you with ongoing support and challenge in your leadership development.
Leaderscope is Catapult’s 360-degree feedback tool. It enables you to identify your leadership strengths, areas for improvement and to develop clear learning objectives for your participation in Catapult Leadership.
The standard price for the programme is $5,400 excluding GST. The cost covers tuition, accommodation, all meals and transport to and from Wellington CBD. For organisations sending three or more people on any one programme, the cost reduces to $4,900 per person.
Situated just outside Martinborough, Brackenridge Lodge combines excellent conference facilities and accommodation with great food and quality service.
2018 dates: 20–23 March, 12–15 June, 11–14 September, 20–23 November
