Pharmac is the government agency responsible for purchasing pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Feedback revealed staff and leaders felt a strong disconnect between what they did on a daily basis and the organisation’s vision and strategy.
Catapult was engaged to develop the strategic leadership capabilities of Pharmac leaders through a combination of teaching and application. Catapult trained Pharmac leaders in the use of a series of strategic planning tools and processes. The leaders then applied these processes and tools by engaging all staff in the development of a new five-year vision and strategy. Catapult provided support and coaching to leaders during this application phase. PHARMAC people leaders have also attended Catapult’s residential leadership programme.
